NANAIMO BARS1/2 c. butter5 Tbsp. cocoa1 egg1 c. shredded coconut1/4 c. sugar1 tsp. vanilla2 c. crushed graham wafers1/2 c. chopped nutsCombine butter, sugar, cocoa, vanilla and egg in top of double boiler. Cook, stirring constantly until butter is melted and mixture resembles thin custard. In bowl combine graham crumbs, coconut and nuts. Add cooked mixture and blend thoroughly. Pack into 9" pan. Spread with icing. Icing: 1/4 c. butter3 Tbsp. milk2 Tbsp. vanilla custard powder1 c. sifted icing sugarChocolate Layer: 3 squares semi-sweet chocolate1 Tbsp. butterCream butter. Add milk which has been combined with custard powder. Blend in icing sugar. Spread over bars and let stand at least 15 minutes. Melt chocolate together with butter and spread over top of icing.
