Old-Fashioned Swiss Steak E-mail

 

OLD-FASHIONED SWISS STEAKIngredients: 2 Tbsp. flour1 tsp. salt1/4 tsp. pepper1/2 tsp. paprika1 1/2 lb. round steak, cut 1" thick2 Tbsp. cooking oil1 20-oz can tomatoes3 large onions, sliced thin1/2 c. chopped celery1 small bay leaf, crushed1/2 tsp. oregano (optional)1 Tbsp. meat sauceCombine flour, salt, pepper and paprika. Sprinkle half over one side of steak, tenderize with mallet or fork. Repeat on other side. Cut meat into serving size pieces. Heat oil in large skillet. Add meat, brown slowly on both sides. Add remaining ingredients, cover tightly and simmer until meat is tender (approx. 2 hours). Serves 4.
