BAKED FISH (UKRAINIAN CHRISTMAS EVE DISH)Ingredients: Whole fish, about 2-2 1/2 lb. in weight1/3 c. butter or vegetable oil1/2 c. chopped onion3 slices day-old bread, diced3/4 tsp. salt1/8 tsp. pepperParsley to taste1/4 c. chopped celery (optional)1 egg, slightly beatenClean, wash and dry fish. Saute onion and celery in butter until almost tender. Stir in bread, add salt, pepper and parsley. Add egg. Stuff bread mixture into fish and sew up opening. Place fish in roaster, bake at 200F for about 3 hours. |
